Jessica Jadick started Florida Water Tours in 2016, but her devotion to marine wildlife and conservation started as a young child growing up on the water. “My dream job was always to be able to work closely with dolphins,” she says. After studying marine biology, Jessica found her way to St. Augustine and fell in love with the historic city. With Jessica’s dedication to the outdoors and always wanting to start her own business, Florida Water Tours was born.
Today, Jessica and her husband, Master Captain Michael Jadick, along with their amazing team, Master Captain Kevin Jadick and Educator Kristie Corrigan, are strongly making an impact on the local community through their K-12 Marine Science curriculum. “We enthusiastically educate our youth about marine wildlife, which is why a portion of every Florida Water Tours ticket sale goes directly into our non-profit, Florida Water Warriors,” explains Jessica. “We have an incredible team, staff, and crew that make this all possible!”
Florida Water Warriors is their educational outreach program for all children, specializing in working with underprivileged youth. They use their vessels as floating classrooms to introduce all students to the local ecosystem in an effort to spark passion about marine wildlife, nature, and conservation. Kevin and Kristie, the main educators for the nonprofit, utilize hands-on marine science lessons and field experiences for grades K-12. Together, Jessica, Michael, Kevin, and Kristie create a well-balanced team that strives to guide students to support the conservation of the local ecosystem. Jessica added that, “We believe that children are our future and it is up to us to teach them about protecting the St. Augustine waterways in order to maintain a healthy marine ecosystem.”
