I know I’m not the only one that is ready to get into the spirit of Halloween as soon as September rolls around. St. Augustine is just the town to immerse yourself in this holiday due to the rich history and the spirits lurking on the fun city roads. 

Death is in the St. Augustine air, and I am going to list out 10 spooky events from our local businesses that are happening this year. So call up your ‘witches’ and mark your calendar for some spooky . 

 

  1. Haunted Boat Tour: Florida Water Tours presents a Moonlit Mysteries: Stargazing and Haunted History cruise. Enjoy a haunted boat tour of St. Augustine’ deathly Bayfront…Be aware of the monsters that lurk the waterways.

 

  1. Drink with Ghosts: Join The Tasting Tours for a cocktail with ‘The Dead Guy’ as you visit 4 local venues and try their best cocktails…or is it poison? 

 

  1. Candlelight Tour: Mortality and Mourning- A Century of Death at the 225 year old Ximenez-Fatio House. Enrich yourselves in the old medicinal practices and mourning rituals for the dead. 

 

  1. Halloween Town: Walk through spell books, explore a witch’s throne and get lost in the skeleton forest. Join The Lab STA to see the bizarre and fantastical. 

 

  1. Paranormal Activities: Become a ghost buster for the night and track paranormal activity using professional equipment. Visit the most eerie places of St. Augustine and maybe bring an iron horseshoe or a crucifix with you… just in case. 

 

  1. Calling All Witches: Hopcraft Collective lounge is hosting a Salem-inspired event. Craft your own lipstick potion, get a tarot card reading, enjoy two themed poisonous cocktails, Hopcraft Atelier products and light bites; such as eyeballs and pinky fingers. 

 

  1. Halloween Under the Sea: St. Augustine Aquarium has an ocean full of fun activities! Trick or treat with mermaids, carve pumpkins underwater, cookie decorating and more! No sirens invited!!!

 

  1. Spiders, Gators and Beasts, oh my: Embark into the wild with the St. Augustine Alligator Zoological park and get your hands dirty. Collect creepy creatures and meet some captured beasts! 

 

  1. Headless Horseman: Dress like the dead and dance till you die! The Headless Bangers Costume Ball at the Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center will have live music, desserts, costume contest, psychics and tarot card readers.

 

  1. Nightly Ghost Tours: St. Augustine being the oldest city in the nation, ghost tours are available year round. There are various locations throughout the town that will guide you through the most haunted places and tell you true stories of our city’s past.
