Where To Take Your Furry Friend When Out On the Town

Dog-Friendly Bars & Restaurants in St. Augustine Beach, Downtown and Vilano

Heading out on the town in St. Augustine is one of the best reasons to live here – and to visit. With so many wonderful, welcoming and delicious bars and restaurants in town, it’s hard to stay home! As pet lovers ourselves, we know it’s hard to leave your furry friends behind. Here are our favorite local establishments that welcome dogs, particularly at their outdoor tables and patios.

One of the original beachside bars and restaurants – “where ‘A’ Street meets the Ocean” – Beachcomber St. Augustine has been a local favorite for over 80 years. What started as a simple beach shack in the 1940s has become a St. Augustine staple, known for burgers, fresh seafood and chowder. They have an impressive selection of craft, imported and domestic beers, as well as cider and wine. Kids and well-behaved dogs are always welcome!

Another beloved locals’ restaurant is Purple Olive, open 21 years, and currently in a new space, the former home of Anastasia Island’s Gypsy Cab Co. While their indoor dining isn’t open to dogs, the new Pape’s Bar is! This outdoor patio and bar is a modern take on a Hemingway-inspired bar and is full-service, serving craft cocktails, wine and local beers, along with appetizers, sliders and flatbreads. This neighborhood bistro serves always delicious and always special meals.
