See the unforgettable display from the best and most comfortable seat in town…on the water
The fourth of July is the highlight of summer. It’s a day full of grilling burgers and hotdogs and playing games in the sand and sun. And just when the sun begins to fade, late in the evening, there’s always a buzz in the air — the anticipation, the excitement and the wonder of seeing explosions in the night sky! Fireworks! Beautiful, giant chemical reactions that create colorful explosions and loud bangs that beat in your chest. The show is fleeting, but unforgettable, and it’s forever a night that feels nostalgic and yet creates memories that last a lifetime.
Here at Florida Water Tours, we have a most special and exclusive location to take in the big show: on one of our Fourth of July Fireworks Cruises! No need to worry about parking downtown, or lugging chairs and coolers to find a squished seat near the bayfront. Climb aboard one of our comfortable pontoon boats, where we cruise the waters of the Matanzas Bay — with the Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions just off in the foreground. Sit beneath the stars, sip a cocktail and take in the thousands of dazzling fireworks lighting up the sky.
St. Augustine’s “Fireworks Over the Matanzas” has been a spectacular fireworks display for the Fourth of July for the past 20 years. One of the largest shows on the east coast, over 5,000 shells are launched over the bayfront, sending brilliant and bright fireworks up to 2,000 feet in the air! The incredible display draws 70-80,000 people to St. Augustine, making it one of the busiest nights in the historic downtown. You can skip the traffic, lines and pedestrian frenzy with Florida Water Tours. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:30pm and last about 20 minutes. The Fourth of July Fireworks Cruises depart at 8:30pm and are 2 hours of pure relaxation and excitement.
“I think it’s every local’s favorite night of the year, but it’s also the most hectic one,” shares Jessica Jadick, founder of Florida Water Tours. “The anticipation is palpable, and we’re thrilled to offer folks such a unique experience that takes away any hassle and offers only fun and comfort.”
The Fourth of July Fireworks Cruises will take place on two vessels, the first being The Osprey, our 45-foot pontoon boat that can accommodate up to 37 passengers, plus two crew members and a bartender, with cozy seats all around. This cruise is for adults only (with no one under the age of 13). The tour includes one complimentary domestic beer, house wine or champagne (for those 21 and older), plus a delicious assortment of cheese and crackers. We also have an excellent variety of beer, wine, sangrias and canned cocktails available for purchase at the bar on the boat too (local favorites are available, as well as water and soft drinks). We ask that you bring no outside alcohol on board please. Our other vessel is The Island Breeze, a 35-foot pontoon boat that can accommodate up to 22 passengers, plus two crew members. This cruise is family-friendly (5 and under are not recommended for this tour), and it’s BYOB! Bring your favorite beverages, or purchase beer, wine and/or canned cocktails in our marina shop.
